Negativity, it dances.
And no one ever told me that it could.
I read it once in online news.
I hear it among a crowded street.
And I know that it can linger,
But I didn’t realize how it dances.
Negativity, it dances.
When I was young I overlooked its grace.
Rumors and expectations I’m sure were there,
But I was looking straight,
Across the plains.
And I didn’t realize how it dances.
But it does. It dances.
It moves and sways rhythmic then off-beat.
Bouncing to gain focus,
Pausing to keep that focus set in place.
I knew a little girl once.
She bounced and swayed.
She ran and raced, and paused only during sleep.
She didn’t sense its presence.
She didn’t know it dances.
But it does.
It sways past broken promises,
Lost friendships,
And the most selfish of loves.
It settles when you settle.
It finds you when look for it.
It dances.
As soon as you stop dancing.
Negativity, it dances.
